Save Where You Can!
For a while now I have been struggling with finding the right planner and also wanting to document life. Simple planners are fine, it’s much easier to find a solution for this. But I wanted somewhere I could document the everyday, big and little moments. Years ago, I used to do project life. I really did enjoy it, but I don’t want to get back into the scrapbooking world. Although I do miss it sometimes, all the pretty patterned paper and embellishments. I did another thing where you make your own album and make the background painty and jot down anything and everything, just like a brain dump. I enjoyed it but found it time consuming.
I came across a YouTube channel, My Little Journal , watched some of her Daily Journal videos and thought ‘This is it! This is what I’ve been looking for!’ I was so excited. I am so excited! I can’t wait for January to come, although I do hate wishing time away. It tends to go way too fast already.
Anyway, down the rabbit hole I went.
Watching video after video, searching for the perfect planner, looking up stamps, stickers, more videos, more window shopping.
I decided to go with the planner that Heba, My Little Journal, uses. It was a big purchase for me. I don’t normally spend that much money on one item but it was exactly what I wanted. Then I find out it’s a small Canadian business! That sealed the deal for me. The planner I speak of is the Daily Planner from Hemlock and Oak.
She is a beauty and a bit of a chunky girl, but I like that! It will work for the whole year! One page per day! It’s already dated because it’s meant to be a planner but it doesn’t have a lot of the nonsense on the pages that a lot of planners have. I am so excited.
I found the planner so now it was time to think about what I wanted to use in helping document the day. What would come up in my everyday life. There’s work, chores, cooking, shopping, mail deliveries, reading, family, etc. When I looked for planner stamps a lot of them were the same and the icons very tiny. I wanted something a little different and bigger, more suited for my needs. Also, a lot of the time when I found something I liked, it was just one stamp on the whole set that I really wanted.
So why spend $20+ on a stamp set to get one stamp, 5 times or more. Why not sketch out and carve my own!!!
Top Left: These are for my mail and shopping for goodies. We have an amazon box, a mailbox full of happy mail and a shopping bag.
Top Right: These are for reading. It has become another obsession of mine. The purchasing and reading of books. There are worse addictions to have. So I have 2 representing books, then one for an e-book and the headphones for audiobooks.
Bottom Left: I just had to do the little lamp. I saw one in a book stamp set and did my own take on it. Then we have a pot for cooking and the X which can be stamped over the pot for NOT COOKING TODAY. lol Then there’s a caution sign, cause come on, that’s bound to come in handy.
Bottom Right: Cute watering can for indoor plants and the vegetable garden when in season. The other stamp was the very first one I carved. I wanted something to represent Facetime with Mom and Dad. Love it!!!
I cannot wait for my planner to arrive! I ordered it late Friday night. They may not even see the order until tomorrow. Fingers crossed it doesn’t take long. There’s only 2 of them, so who knows. I’m SO EXCITED!
(Words of wisdom, talking from experience here, don’t go online shopping really late at night. You’re a bit tired and not thinking fully.)
I may have gone on Kerri Bradford’s website and purchased a few alpha stamps as well. BIG ONES! It was really late at night.
So that’s my excitement for this week. Let me know if you have any interest in seeing what I do with this planner and what exactly it is you would like to see.
And remember, when you’re tired, go to bed. It will save you lots of money.
