Font Friday, Partially Blocked

Denise Lush is showing how she creates fonts that she uses in her art journals. She will be teaching a new font every month. #fontfriday #deniselush #denisefontfriday

I love adding hand lettered quotes to my collage pages! I think it adds a really nice touch and finishes off the page.

I have been asked many times if I could teach how to do my hand lettering. My first thought was “I don’t know how to teach lettering. I’m no pro”.

While I still don’t think I am a pro by any means, I thought I would give this whole teaching thing a try.

For the first font I chose something that is simple but can be altered in so many different ways. With little tweaks you can customize this font to make it your very own. Maybe even add something that matches the theme of your page.

I tend to use this font a lot in my journaling. It’s quick, easy and very versatile.

Depending on how you style it, it can be used as a regular font text, or to highlight a word.

I thought the best way to teach you was in a video. I have provided a tutorial for you on my YouTube channel.

You can find free printable worksheets online. I just googled ‘free lined practice sheets’ and chose one I liked. You can also just use plain or lined paper that you already have at home! You don’t need anything special.

You can see in the image below the font I will be showing you in the tutorial.

I really feel this is a great beginner font because it is easy to do and so very versatile.

Go watch the video, then practice the way I show you. Once you get use to it, have fun playing around and changing it up!

Don’t forget to share on social media using the hashtag #denisefontfriday so we can all follow along and inspire one another!
