May Challenge!
When I wanted to create a new and better website I reached out to my YouTube family and asked them what they would like to see on the website. There were lots of great suggestions! One thing that a lot of people were interested in was a monthly challenge.
I like to listen to my viewers, especially when they have good ideas!
So here it is! Our first monthly challenge!
How the idea for this months challenge came about:
I was setting up my new Facebook Group and was chatting with Beth Broadway (you may know her as maxblts ) on Instagram. I told her what I was doing and how I didn’t really know what I was doing. lol She got pretty excited and then had the idea of all the members creating themselves as a Creative Peep and sharing it on the Facebook Page. The idea was taken from how I did my chatty peeps, talky tabs, etc combined with the name of my Facebook Group! I absolutely loved the idea! It was brilliant!
I mentioned to her how people had wanted a monthly challenge for the website. hmmmm….
So combine the two and we have a monthly challenge started for the website and our first challenge already chosen!
So the May Challenge is:
Here’s the idea:
use an image of yourself. It doesn’t have to be the full picture. You can just use your head.
use collage elements, magazine images, drawings, etc to create your body. Use whatever you would like.
add things that make it YOU! Ex. paintbrush in hand, a pet, a book, whatever you love.
This was very fun to do. But it was hard to add a lot of things that I love in just one doll. I decided to print off extra to create a journal page with another me - Creative Peep. I think that will be super fun as well and can’t wait to get started.
For my Creative Peep I used a picture of myself (just using the head and neck) and then chose the rest of my images from Mischief Circus. Right now they have a sale!!! I’m warning you, it can be dangerous, but they have so many fabulous collage images. You don’t even have to wait for them to arrive. You just add to cart, buy, download and then print them at home!
And no - I do not get a commission for raving about them. lol No affiliate links with them. I just love them. That’s all! If it wasn’t for that site, I never would have gotten into collage when I did!
I printed my images onto card stock so the doll would be sturdier. Once I cut out the images and paste them together I then glued the whole doll onto another piece of card stock and cut it out. This made her even more sturdy.
For the base that she is leaning against, I used a piece of chipboard and covered it with more collage paper from Mischief Circus and other collage pieces.
I wanted her to be upright without falling over so I created a stand for her. All I did was take two more pieces of chipboard, cutting one end of both pieces at an angle. I cut them both together so the angle would be the same on both pieces. I then used tape to attach those pieces onto the back of the main chipboard piece.
Here is what it looks like from behind.
It really is quite simple.
If you need further instructions let me know in the comments down below.
I really do hope you play along with the monthly challenges. This is quite fun and I hope to see your doll posted in my Facebook Group!
If you post a picture of your Creative Peep on Instagram please use the hashtags #creativepeep and #deniselushinspired so I don’t miss out! I’m so excited to see your dolls!!!
